Mostly clear skies with high pressure and a drier airmass
rotating south around the back side of the low pressure system
just of the Mid Atlantic coast. This low pressure system will
continue top move NE out into the Atlantic allowing the high
pressure ridge over the eastern great lake states to build E and
SE through the week. With the pattern dominated by high pressure
and clear skies temps will easily warm to the low to mid 80s in
the short term (about 10 degrees above normal). Morning low temps
will be mainly in the mid to upper 50s with some upper 40s in the
NE GA mountains.

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday morning through next Monday)

Thursday through Saturday:

Dry conditions will remain the story through the start of the
weekend as a mid-level ridge slowly slides across the Southeast US
as troughing drops across the Central US in its wake. The ridge
will prevent any chances for rain across Georgia, and lead to
mostly clear skies. Expansive surface high pressure riding along
the northeast side of the ridge will send a dry front into
Georgia from the Carolinas on Thursday, which will cool temps a
few degrees for Friday, but will otherwise be unnoticeable. High
temps for Thur-Sat will be in the upper 70s to low 80s, with
overnight lows in the 50s.

Saturday Night through Early Next Week:

By late Saturday, the pattern will start to shift as the ridge
gets kicked out of the area by broad and deep troughing pushing
east from the Central US. In response, low to mid-level winds
over Georgia will start to turn out of the south to southwest,
strengthening by Sunday morning as a stout mid-level shortwave
drops into the MS and TN Valleys. The surge of SW flow will bring
increased moisture, which combined with large-scale ascent from
the nearby trough will lead to scattered showers and thunderstorms
across the area starting Sunday morning. By Sunday afternoon, the
cold front associated with this system will start to push through
Georgia from the W/NW, with showers and storms around until it
passes through and drier air filters in behind it. There is still
notable uncertainty with how this system will progress, but
depending on the timing of the front and how much instability
develops in the area, a few strong to even marginally severe
storms may be possible. That part of the forecast will become
clearer in the coming days. One thing we do have confidence in, is
that any rainfall from this system, (which looks to be generally
0.25"-0.5" or less), will not make much of a dent in the ongoing
drought conditions.

Behind the front, surface high pressure and mid-level ridging
will move over the region, ushering in dry and cooler conditions
for early next week. Low temps may be the coolest we`ve seen so
far this season (but still near to above average) falling into
the upper 40s to low 50s for Mon and Tue mornings. Highs look to
be in the low to mid 70s on Mon, and mid to upper 70s on Tue.
Temps will be about 5-10 degrees cooler than what was just
mentioned in the north GA mountains.

Another SKC day today with winds being the main reason for
multiple lines. Winds should turn NE in the next hour where they
will stay until ~18z when they turn back to the NW and then again
tomorrow evening ~07z turn back to the NE. All speeds are at 7kt
or less.
